Tyler Magnus

Tyler was born on March 8, 1964, in Arkansas City, Kansas.  He attended schools in Cedarville, Kansas, and college at Labette Community College in Parsons, Kansas.

            Magnus is a 9 times NFR Team Roping Qualifier.  He won the 1995 NFR Average.  Honors also include PRCA Texas Circuit ChampionGeorge Strait Team Roping Champion, and he is a 2009 Texas Cowboy Hall of Fame Inductee.  Tyler has conducted a Team Roping School on the RFD-TV Channel, with many good pointers for both the novice and seasoned ropers.

            Tyler first entered the West of the Pecos Rodeo in 1985 and last competed in 2016 in both team roping and steer roping.  His memories include the big arena, the old-time scoreline...and, of course, the heat.

            Tyler is married to Knel Magnus and together they have 3 children, Truman, Ruby, and Scout.  Tyler Magnus was inducted into the Texas Rodeo Hall of Fame on Friday, June 29, 2018.
