Angela Ganter

Angela Ganter was born on April 14, 1965, and has always loved horses. Her barrel racing abilities allowed her to attend Texas A&M University and be on their rodeo team, where she also earned a Bachelor of Science degree in 1988. In 1993 she married her husband, Don. They had a successful career in the restaurant industry in College Station, Texas, best known for “The Dixie Chicken” Don and Angela have one daughter Jackie Ganter who is following Angela's footsteps in the arena.

Angela is a survivor. In 2004 she lost her husband Don and moved back to Abilene. She built Lone StarStables Equine Boarding and Rehab facility there. From 2010 - to 2017, she underwent multiple surgeries and chemo and radiation for breast cancer. During that time, she was not able to ride or compete. However, in 2017 she began physical therapy training to rebuild her nervous system and learn to gain her balance again.

In 2018 she won 6 PRCA rodeos and qualified for the Canadian Finals Rodeo, winning the Grass RootsFinals. Angela isn’t slowing down either; in 2019, she qualified for the Canadian Rodeo Finals for a second time and won a round. Angela qualified for the Calgary Stampede in 2021 and won a round.
