Pam Perner Goodwin

Pam was born on September 1, 1944, in San Angelo, Texas.  She attended schools in Ozona.  Pam's love of horses was inspired by her father, P.C. Perner who was known for raising good using horses and kept her well-mounted and able to win.  She competed in AJRA and Open Junior Rodeos.

            Pam first won the barrel racing at the West of the Pecos Rodeo in 1966 and later won again in 1972 and 1976.  She was a member of the West Texas Barrel Racing Association from 1966-1995.  She also served as a director and secretary for the West Texas Barrel Futurity in the early 1990s.

            Goodwin was the executive rodeo secretary for High Plains Junior Rodeo Association from 1985-1996, Tri-State High School Rodeo Secretary from 1996-2004, and Texas High School Regional Secretary from 1999-2004.  From 1994-1996 she was secretary for all three associations at the same time.

            Pam now lives in Canyon, Texas, and has one son, Lee Upton, who lives in Cristoval, Texas.  Pam was inducted into the Texas Rodeo Hall of Fame in 2017.
