1951-Living

Dan Fisher was born on June 20, 1951, in San Angelo, Texas.  He attended his first West of the Pecos Rodeo in 1951 when he was less than a month old to watch his Dad rope. Dan started competing in Pecos in 1980 and has entered every year since then.

In 1982, Fisher was the Team Roping Champion in Pecos.  He also set an arena record in steer roping that he held until 2005. He tied 6 of the 10 fastest times ever at Pecos in steer roping. Dan also furnished team roping and steer roping cattle throughout the 1990s for the West of the Pecos Rodeo.

Now ranching in Andrews County, Dan continues to raise Hereford cattle that have been raised by the Fisher Family for over 100 years.  He also owns and operates Fisher Rodeo Cattle Company importing Mexican steers.

Dan is married to Dr. Pamela Fisher and they are the parents of McKinley Morgan, Vin, and J. Tom Fisher.  Both sons are his traveling partners and they practice together every day. That relationship keeps Dan competing and making the NFR.

The highlight of Fisher's career was making the NFSR in 2003 with his son Vin and making it again in 2008 when he was 57 years old.
