Pete Carr
Pete Carr’s story is rooted in grit, faith, and the Western way of life, values that perfectly reflect the spirit of the West of the Pecos Rodeo. Raised in Dallas, Texas, by a single mother, Pete learned early that hard work and determination matter more than circumstance. Life was not always easy, but those challenges built the foundation for the man he would become.
Like many young Texans, Pete found his passion in the rodeo arena. In his 20s, he competed as a bareback rider, chasing the dream of becoming a world champion. Though his riding career was cut short, rodeo never left him. The experience gave him a lifelong respect for the athletes, the livestock, and the traditions that define the Western lifestyle.
Before becoming one of the most recognized names in professional rodeo, Pete built his career in construction. Starting from the ground up hauling sheetrock, he worked his way into leadership through relentless effort, sharp business instincts, and a commitment to doing things the right way. Without the advantage of higher education, Pete built a nationally respected commercial construction company, proof that perseverance and integrity still matter.
But rodeo was always home.
Pete eventually purchased his PRCA Stock Contractor Card and founded Pete Carr Pro Rodeo, bringing the same standards of excellence and professionalism into the rodeo world. Over the years, his company has become one of the premier stock contracting firms in the country, producing some of the biggest rodeos in the nation, including Fort Worth, San Antonio, Houston, the National Finals Rodeo, and for the past 20 years, the legendary West of the Pecos Rodeo.
As Pete celebrates his 20th year in Pecos, his connection to the rodeo and the community remains as strong as ever. At the heart of Pete Carr Pro Rodeo is a deep respect for Western heritage, the same heritage celebrated each year at the West of the Pecos Rodeo, the world’s first rodeo. Pete’s commitment to quality livestock, fairness, and preserving rodeo traditions has earned him widespread respect from contestants, committees, and fans across the industry.
Carr’s accomplishments speak for themselves. He has been nominated seventeen times for PRCA Stock Contractor of the Year, named the 2024 Resistol Man of the Year, earned multiple WPRA and Extreme Bulls Stock Contractor of the Year honors, and in 2026 was inducted into the Texas Cowboy Hall of Fame.
His livestock program is considered one of the best in professional rodeo. Legendary animals like Dirty Jacket, a two time PRCA Bareback Horse of the Year, and Bayou Bengal, the 2023 PRCA Bucking Bull of the Year, showcase the strength and consistency of the Carr program. In
2025 alone, 22 head of Pete Carr livestock were selected for the National Finals Rodeo, more than any other contractor that year.
Despite the accolades, Pete remains grounded in faith, family, and the values that built his success. Family has always been at the center of Pete’s life, and he takes great pride in passing down the values of hard work, integrity, and respect for the Western way of life to his children, Morgan Florenza, Morgan Bagnell, and Jamison Bagnell. Known for his quiet leadership and willingness to help others, he continues to mentor younger contractors, support improvements in livestock care and safety, and give back to the Western community through organizations like the Cowboys Who Care Foundation.
Alongside his wife, Holly, and surrounded by the support of his family, Pete continues to honor the traditions of rodeo while helping shape its future. His story is more than a success story. It is a reflection of the cowboy spirit celebrated at the West of the Pecos Rodeo: hard work, integrity, resilience, and pride in the Western way of life.
