Benje Bendele, a pioneer in rodeo sound production, has transformed the way fans experience the sport through his innovative work as a PRCA music director. Hailing from Dublin, Texas, Benje began his rodeo career as a competitor before discovering a passion for production in 1988. Since then, he has led the evolution of rodeo entertainment, founding Crazy Heart Sound & Lighting and introducing the role of music director to professional rodeo. His signature sound design and expertly timed music cues have become a staple at major events like the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo, Calgary Stampede, and Rodeo Houston. Known for setting the gold standard in rodeo audio, Benje's contributions have elevated the energy and professionalism in the sport across North America. His induction into the Texas Rodeo Hall of Fame celebrates a career dedicated to enhancing the excitement, emotion and tradition of rodeo through the power of sound. Benje’s ties to the West of the Pecos Rodeo date back nearly three decades, serving as Music Director from 1997-1999, Announcer from 2000-2005, and as Music Director since 2006, with this year being his 28th year with the West of the Pecos Rodeo. Benje also served the NFR with 22 consecutive years as Music Director.
