Wanda Harper Bush

Competing at the West of the Pecos Rodeo in the barrel racing in 1957, Wanda Harper Bush competed until 1985.  She was the champion in Pecos three times and was proud to win the rodeo on its 50th Anniversary. Pecos, along with Houston was always Wanda’s two favorite professional rodeos.

Wanda was born in Mason on October 6, 1931 and she, her husband, Stanley along with their daughter Shanna worked with horses all of their lives. Wanda has given barrel racing clinics nationwide for 30 years.

Many, many honors and accolades have been bestowed upon Wanda and she is a member of the National Cowgirl Hall of Fame in Fort Worth, Texas. She has also been inducted into the Texas Rodeo Cowboy Hall of Fame in Belton, Texas and the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. She has been name the Women of the Year by the WPRA and inducted in 2008 into the Texas Rodeo Hall of Fame.
