Shawn McMullan

Shawn McMullan attended and graduated from Iraan High School where he amassed many rodeo awards including FFA, and Junior Rodeo as well as athletic awards.

Shawn’s specialty was calf roping and he was on the rodeo teams at both Odessa College and Tarleton State University.
McMullan first attended the West of the Pecos Rodeo as a you boy when his Dad competed in the calf roping event and his Mom was entered in the barrel racing competition. Shawn later competed at the Pecos Rodeo as a teenager, filling his PRCA permit there.

In Shawn’s short life and career he won at Houston, El Paso, San Angelo and Calgary as well as qualifying for the National Finals several times.

Shawn McMullan was born August 22, 1969 and lost his life August 17th, 1996 in an unfortunate accident while traveling from one rodeo to another.

In 1996 he was posthumously awarded the honor of being the “Fan’s Favorite Cowboy”. This particular award came as no surprise, as Shawn was always known for being very polite, friendly and a real credit to the sport of rodeo.

Shawn is survived by his Dad, Kenny, his Mom, Glenda and a sister, Mecca.
