James Allen has always had a close connection to the West of the Pecos Rodeo and placed in the team roping and Senior Steer roping. Pecos first had the PRCA steer roping in 1966 and discontinued it for a while. James assisted in getting it back and was the Steer Roping Director at that time.
James, a 2010 Texas Rodeo Hall of Famer, competed in both calf roping and steer roping for over 33 years and along with being a “pretty good” roper himself, he tutored his two sons, Guy (2006 Texas Rodeo Hall of Famer) and Gip, in the art of steer roping.
